How to Fave your Favourites

One of the most commonly asked questions that I get through the Help Desk is from newbie Blotanists asking how to add blogs to their Favourites. I have resisted writing this post for a few weeks mainly because I wanted to offer another alternative to the two options already available.

Before starting you will need to Login using your email and password sent to you when your membership was first accepted.

Once logged in, you have three options available for adding your favourite blogs to your Plot.

Option #1

You will find the top 300 Most Visited Blogs a good place to start. On this page you will notice 3 buttons available to members - (1) VISIT BLOG - this link will take you directly to the blog you're interested in visiting, (2) +FAVOURITES - this will add this blog to your favourites in your Plot, and (3) OWNER'S PLOT - here you can visit the blog owner's space at Blotanical where you can add a message, read some facts on the blogger and generally get to know them more.

If you have already Faved a particular blog you will notice that the button changes to a gold colour indicating its previous faving. Clicking the link will not actually take you anywhere but your present location.

Option #2

The second option is available for those who are seeking a specific blog and know its title already.

Start at the Search Blogger's Location tab and begin typing the name of the blog into the input field. NB: You will notice that each time you access this page, a random blog will present itself as the default value. This is just a novelty feature if you are looking to while away some time visiting blogs that you may not have considered before.

When you have located the Blog title in the input field click on the LOCATE button. You will be taken to a Google map showing the region where the blog is located. Click the Gerbera Icon and an info tab will appear. Click the blog name and you will then visit a page displaying some of the blog's details. Here you will again be presented with the three buttons you encountered in Option #1.

Just click the +FAVOURITES button to add the blog as a favourite in your Plot.

Option #3

Finally, the last option to add a favourite is through someone else's Plot. You can access other members' Plots from many different avenues including the 100 Newest Blogs, the Home Page, and even by responding to visitor's messages.

Once at someone else's Plot, you will find a set of navigational bars half-way down the page. If the member owns a submitted blog on Blotanical then you will see a tab named My Blogs. Click these and you will see some info on each of the blogs the member owns. Plus, you will also be presented with another +FAVOURITES button.

Things to remember

While you have complete control over which blogs you Fave, you are limited by your user score as to how many you can Fave. If you want to add more to your Plot then you will need to increase your score.

You may also notice, if you have a blog listed on Blotanical, that you won't see the +FAVOURITES button next to it on any of these three options. The reason: we don't want people to Fave their own blogs.

Happy faving.
