Voting & Feeds
Voting is now open after all the nominations have been compiled. Congratulations to all the finalists and may the best blog (or blotanist) win... You have until next Sunday to get your votes in so don't miss out. If you need a link to get there try this one.
For those who are still suffering with the Feedburner issue, can I offer my most sincerest apologies. The issue is in the hands of the Feedburner Team and we have been trialling solutions - to no avail - for the past week and a half. The issue is obviously fairly complex as even this team of gurus are unable to provide any satisfactory resolution.
So, it is time to take some control back and put some more options into your own hands. Here is a possible workaround that should fix those with Feedburner feeds.
Step 1
Login to Feedburner.com and go to the Edit Feed Details section.

Copy the url that you initially entered into the Original Feed field. In this example, mine would be - http://www.gardeningtipsnideas.com/index.xml.
Step 2
Then, enter it into the blue highlighted field at this address and push the Read button. If the link is successful then it should display your feed below all the links. If not, then you will just have to sit and wait until Feedburner can solve the problem.
Step 3
If it was successful then paste that Original Feed url into your Plot in the My Blogs section. You will need to click the Edit button and then paste the url into the Blog Feed field.

Click the Update button and your next post should start filtering in again.

I thought it was solved but it's not. I guess I'm one of the ones that just has to wait. It's been very hard. My hits are way down. Not good for advertisers.

Looks like I'm one of the unlucky ones - I got the error message 'couldn't connect to host' :(
I'll try again later...

Check this thread out Stuart, 3rd post down: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/169984 It's making my feed show in your #2 step above, but it hasn't made the last post show in "myBlogs" - yet anyway. I also took off the trailing slash on my website address to see if that would help.

In case it's useful to know who has tested what - I tried your suggestion for my LOOSE AND LEAFY but it timed out.

Amy, it was still showing your Feedburner feed in your My Blogs section!! I have updated it to your basic alternate feed so we shall see if this has made any difference.

I get an error message on SimplePie: "cURL error 7: couldn't connect to host."

The only way you are going to overcome this is to alter your Post Feed Redirect URL field in the Site Feed section. Just delete the url with your Feedburner feed and then click Save Settings.
By leaving this with your Feedburner feed url it will automatically default to that feed and timeout with the cURL error.

Hey Stuart. Thanks for the info on Feedburner. I followed your directions. Can you test if I'm getting through?
Posted by: carolyngail | September 22, 2008 9:23 PM
Stuart, if we do as you advise Mr McGregor's daughter, will it affect the feeds which link directly to subscribers / blogs /readers etc.?
One of the notes on the Feedburner site seems to indicate that it will / can.
It would be a shame to find we are figuring on the Blotanical lists but have simultaneously dropped off the radar of non-Blotanical members.

Didn't work for me either. If we changed our feeds would it not upset the feed subscribers are already using and blogrolls?

Stuart - I'm getting the same message as MMD and I'm assuming your comment after her entry is answering her problem.
However, I'm confused as to where your saying the change needs to be done as I can't find anything called 'Post Field Redirect' anywhere. Do you mean in Blotanical or Feedburner?
Posted by: VP | September 23, 2008 5:21 AM
@Lucy, @Tina - You are correct that this will affect other feed subscribers. If this is a concern then I would suggest you ignore my advice to MMD and wait for Feedburner to rectify our issue (although I can no longer give a definite that this will happen).
@VP - After reading my advice above, and you still want to go ahead with this, then the field I'm referring to is within Blogger, in your settings section.
@Carolyn - your feed address has not been changed either here at Blotanical or from your blog and is still showing the feedburner url.

I'm one of the unlucky ones, too. *sigh*
My readership has gone down since this started. :-(

Hi Stuart,
Just so you know, I am one of the ones that will just have to wait, too. None of the above corrected my feed burning to Blotanical. thanks for trying.

Thanks for the advice, Stuart. Now I just have to decide if I'm ready to try it.
Posted by: Mr. McGregor's Daughter | September 24, 2008 1:53 AM
@Meems - Your blog is still defaulting to the Feedburner feed. Unless you remove the feedburner link in the Post Feed Redirection URL field it won't allow the blogger default to override it.

Hi Stuart,
I cant access My Blogs in My Plot to edit and amend the site feed on Blotanical to read
http://scattymare.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default
I altered it when I tried to reburn the feed using feedburner last week, and since then its been messed up.
Please can you update it for me? When I try your blue box Simple Pie gizmo, using that URL now works, so hopefully altering it back to that on here will mean my posts register again? Fingers crossed, many thanks
Zoë

I got rid of my Feedburner feed and went to the default, but it's still not working.
Posted by: Mr. McGregor's Daughter | September 25, 2008 4:32 AM
@ MMD - the only step you missed in the process was to come and edit your Blog Feed in Blotanical back to the default Blogger RSS. I have done this for you and you should see your posts return to the picks list with the next one you publish.
BTW - you didn't need to delete your Feedburner feed, just remove the link from your Blogger settings as it kept defaulting to it.

@Zoe - congrats. I've updated your feed to the Blogger default and you should see your posts when you publish your next one. Great to have you back...
