"Why Do I Garden?" Winners
There were quite a few entries for this competition which was great to see. The challenge was for gardeners to limit their answer to the question "Why do I Garden?" to just 160 characters - or the size of a standard SMS. Three copies of the book shown above have been earmarked for the winners. Below are the ones who did it and who contacted me with their entry or were easy to find.
For those who may have been missed, I apologize profusely. If you contact me I can include your link in an update but unfortunately you have missed out on the prizes. Please read the newsletter for updates on how future competitions will occur.
As there were a few entries I have decided to forego the judging aspect and leave it purely up to randomness. Therefore each entry has been given a number and I used Random.org to produce a list of three numbers. The numbers are 8, 6, and 10. Congrats to our winners and I hope you enjoy reading all the posts.
- James - Lost In the Landscape
- Amanda Hill - @MandaHill
The emergence of new life from seed.
The wind in my hair, the sun on my face.
The fulfilment of feeding on the freshest, most local of foods. - Sylvia - Sylvia
Gardening keeps my feet firmly planted in the soil, otherwise the winds of life would blow me away.
- Katarina - Roses and stuff
- Zoë - Garden Hopping
- Julian - Tropical Gardening
- VP - target="_blank">VegPlotting
- MMD - Mr MacGregor's Daughter
- Jill - Through the Looking Glass
- Helen - The Patient Gardener
- Kanak - Terra farmer
Special commendations to Raquel from Perennial Gardener who also answered the question but mistook the challenge. It was still a great post and a great reason for gardening.
Also, Sue from A Corner Garden and Meems from Hoe & Shovel.
NB. Winners I will need you to email me some details so that I can have your prizes forwarded to you.

Hi Stuart,
It was cool to see my name mentioned, even though I didn't abide by the number of words in the challenge. Thanks for reading it anyway, and saying you liked it here.
Happy Holidays, and enjoy your time away from the computer. I need to clean my house today, but just had to read my email and look at a few blogs first.

It was so hard to keep to the word limit, but it was a fun challenge. Thanks for coming up with this.

I loved following along. When I first started seeing the post about why I garden, I thought everyone sure was feeling emotional about their gardening. Then I saw it was a challenge from you. What's next Stuart. I want to do the next one and my Mac is ready for the challenge.
